SUVs are now the most popular car type for families or people looking for a car with some space and ride height, be it for ease of access to the car, or for a better view of the road ahead.
Car makers have seemingly filled every niche now, and the SUV market is no different. You can buy a small SUV, effectively a small car with a raised ride height, for example the Nissan Juke, a medium-sized one such as the VW Tiguan or the Skoda Karoq, or go large with cars such as the Audi Q7 or the Peugeot 5008.
The question I am most often asked by my clients at the moment, however, is which medium sized SUV is best, or is the best value.
Here I will suggest a few that I would recommend – with thanks to Honest John for the links!
If badge status is important and you are prepared to spend little more, the new from 2018 Audi Q3 is a fantastic small to medium-sized SUV. See here:

Or, slightly bigger, is the new from 2017 Audi Q5 – again a fantastic car:

Slightly cheaper, but still an excellent choice in the VW Tiguan, the newest version of which arrived in 2016 – see here:

Others such as the Skoda Karoq and Seat Ateca are very closely related to the VW and slightly cheaper, whilst also being excellent choices.
But, my current favourite in this class due to it’s value for money, clever engines and gearboxes, bang up-to-date technology and stunning design, is the Peugeot 3008. The pick of the range for me is the 1.2 Puretech 130 Allure with the EAT6 (or now EAT8) automatic transmission. This is a very clever 1.2 litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces 130bhp but also gives you over 50mpg. The gearboxes (EAT stands for Efficient Automatic Transmission) are very smooth and are proving reliable.
Also, have a look at the interior in the pictures on the link. It is extremely modern and looks fantastic, all models having a digital dashboard.

If you are in the market for such a car, please do seriously consider the Peugeot. I think it’s the best in class!
