“So, what does a Car Consultant do?” Part 2

Further examples of my recent work:

Continuing to find first cars for young drivers – the priorities here are safe, affordable, low-insurance vehicles that are cool enough to be seen in!

Finding good value used cars is increasingly challenging as the second hand car market remains elevated.  This is fast becoming the new normal as drivers stay in their cars longer, thereby reducing the available stock.

After the pandemic, supply chain difficulties and the war in Europe, prices were raised, but this was widely believed to be a short-term situation. I now believe this is no longer the case and that prices will remain high for a signifiant period.

Helping two recent returning clients to find and buy specific vehicles.  One a Golf GTI to a specific specification, the other a nearly new Golf SV.

For these two purchases, and all other clients who are buying, I follow a similar process – discuss the client’s requirements, search for and identify a suitable vehicle, conduct online checks into the vehicle’s history, engage with the dealer / seller to ask further questions and to ensure my clients gets a fair deal, and finally make sure that my client isn’t tempted by unnecessary and overpriced add-ons being offered with the car – e.g, paint protection or GAP insurance.

Helping sell a stunning camper van. This client asked me to sell their VW camper for them last Autumn.  I advertised it on Car and Classic, but advised that the time of year might mean it would take a while to sell. I dealt with numerous enquiries over the winter period, but as the seller was in no rush, we could wait for the right buyer.

In March, with the better weather looming, a serious buyer started asking all the right questions and we ended up negotiating on price.  I did all of this for the client, checking back in with them regularly in terms of agreeing what price was acceptable.

A long process, but worth all the effort as the van went to an excellent home at a price the seller was very happy with.

Also, I am now building a good relationship with several local main dealerships, many of whom are short of stock, so that I can often assist clients who are looking to sell by approaching these dealers directly. This makes selling even easier for all concerned!

These relationships also help me to source vehicles quickly for clients as dealers may often have newly acquired stock that hasn’t yet been advertised.

Finally, I am available to advise clients and others in relation to more general issues facing the motorist. As described in a recent blog you may have seen, I was interviewed on BBC Radio Bristol just before Christmas about the new Clean Air Zone in the City. I expect similar interest will be generated by this proposed Low Traffic Neighbourhood:
